New Delhi: The CPI on Tuesday welcomed the Lokpal Bill, but said that the party will not support the Bill in the present form. Taking a dig at the Prime Minister, CPI leader Gurudas Das Gupta, said "There is departure. The Prime Minis has already spoken."
"He (Manmohan Singh) provoked controversy. He should have been little more careful," Das Gupta said.
Criticising Manmohan Singh, he said, "The Prime Minister has delivered the progress report for the upcoming assembly election. Parliament is not the place for political speech."
"Protests have been very loud in the last one year. The Government is attaching too much importance to some individuals or a group," said Das Gupta.
Pointing out the magnitude of corruption, Das Gupta said, "Corruption is all pervasive. A Cabinet minister is in jail."
"Political capital of India is also capital of criminality, perpetrating corruption in Indian," he added.
The Government is impatient. It should not expect consensus," warned Das Gupta.
