Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “playing jail khel”, a few hours after his personal secretary Bibhav Kumar was arrested in the Swati Maliwal assault case. The Delhi CM, while addressing a media briefing announced that he, along with AAP leaders, MPs and MLAs will march towards BJP headquarters on Sunday at noon and “you can put in jail whoever you want”.
“You can see how they are after AAP…I would like to tell the Prime Minister – you are playing this ‘jail ka khel’…Tomorrow, I am coming to the BJP HQ with all my top leaders, MLAs, MPs at 12 noon. You can put in jail whoever you want…” Kejriwal said.
Earlier in the day, Delhi police arrested former personal secretary of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Bibhav Kumar, in connection with the AAP MP Swati Maliwal assault case.
In her complaint to the police, Maliwal had alleged Kumar attacked her at Kejriwal’s residence on May 14 with “full force, slapping and kicking her in the chest and abdomen.”
Bibhav Kumar filed an anticipatory bail plea in Delhi’s Tis Hazari court, which later became infructuous as he had already been arrested by the time the hearing concluded.
“We were not allowed to meet Bibhav Kumar after he was called to the police station. We had applied for anticipatory bail and while arguing in court, the government lawyer did not inform us that Bibhav Kumar had been arrested in the meantime. Since the arrest has already been made, our application of bail has become infructuous and we will have to file a fresh application,” said advocate Sanjeev Nasiar.
