BJP says it's firm on dumping Soren govt
The BJP stuck to its stand and will withdraw support to the coalition government in Jharkhand.

New Delhi/Ranchi: The Bharatiya Janata Party claims there is no change it its stand on the Shibu Soren-led coalition government in Jharkhand. Its MLAs will meet the Governor later in the evening and will withdraw support to the government.

This comes despite a request by Soren's son Hemant with an offer to change of guard in the government.

Amid reports that the BJP seems to be in two minds whether to pull out from the Soren government or not, sources have told CNN-IBN that there's no change in the BJP's stand and the party's MLAs from the state will meet the Governor on Thursday evening to withdraw support to the Soren government.

The BJP appears to be in two minds over the pullout from the Shibu Soren government in Jharkhand. Top BJP leaders will fly down to Ranchi to take a final call on coalition with the JMM as they are learnt to be still considering Hemant Soren's offer on the change of guard in the coalition government.

The central leadership of the party, after a meeting at Sushma Swaraj's residence in Delhi, has decided to meet its 18 MLAs in Jharkhand.

Shibu Soren's son Hemant had proposed Wednesday a change in leadership in Jharkhand after the BJP withdrew support to the JMM coalition government. But the JMM is learnt to be divided over Soren's offer to give the CM post to the BJP.

Meanwhile, the state leaders of the saffron party are not in favour of another election, asking the high command to avoid polls in the state for now. The BJP Parliamentary Board is expected to meet later Thursday and take a final decision on the crisis.

Senior BJP leader and Jharkhand deputy Chief Minister Raghuwar Das says: "Yesterday, we were told to submit our resignation and all the four ministers were told to resign. We will seek time from the Governor and submit our resignation."

"The central leadership will take the final decision. Our stand is very clear that we want to withdraw our support from this government. What Hemant Soren has said has been informed to the central leadership," he added.

However, on the offer from Hemant, the BJP leadership maintains that they have not yet got any formal offer from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. "If we get any formal offer, our central leadership will take a call."

Hemant had said Wednesday, "We reject all the accusations against us. The CM is willing to resign from his post for this. We want the BJP to reconsider its decision of withdrawing support."

Meanwhile, Speaker of Jharkhand assembly CP Singh says: "It's unfortunate that it's almost 10 years since Jharkhand (state) is formed. Yet, there is no stable government. Coalition governments are formed and as a result there isn't much attention for development."

"People are also upset, they are losing faith in politics. Guruji should have thought much before voting against the cut motion. As a legislator, I feel that he should have been more careful."
