Blewett raised questions over Rohit's form and suggested that it might backfire for India once again in the upcoming ODI World Cup.

Former Australia cricketer Greg Blewett has raised questions over Team India captain Rohit Sharma’s batting form in ODIs. The swashbuckling opener has not been at his best in white-ball cricket in recent times as he has scored just one ODI century since the start of 2021. He tried to play with an ultra-attacking approach in the past few months and took some big risks at the start of the innings which didn’t work in his favour.

Rohit took over the captaincy charge from Virat Kohli after the 2021 T20 World Cup, however, due to workload management and tight schedule, he had to miss a few series.

Blewett raised questions over Rohit’s form and suggested that it might backfire for India once again in the upcoming ODI World Cup.

“I am worried about India’s ODI captain. I really am. Rohit Sharma is just clinging on, and I would have thought that India might have made a move by now on the one-day leadership. I just can see it going wrong again for India. They always get to these World Cups and they just don’t get it done and I’m just not sure that Rohit is getting it done for them,” said Blewett on Willow Talk Cricket Podcast.

Under Rohit’s captaincy, India were eliminated from the semifinal of 2022 T20 World Cup with a crushing defeat against England, while they also lost the World Test Championship Final this year to Australia.

Meanwhile, Bleweet said that Kohli is done with the captaincy and India won’t go back to him now.

“Virat as leader? I think he is done and I don’t know whether you can go back to him now.

The former Australia cricketer further criticised Rohit’s form and said he is getting game because he is the captain.

I don’t know, I just see that Rohit is just hanging by a thread. He is getting a game at the moment because he is captain. And I don’t know whether that’s the right way to go,” said Blewett.

Rohit will lead the Indian team in the upcoming ODI World Cup which will be played in India starting next month. It will be his first ODI WC as captain as he played the last two as a specialist batter. Hardik Pandya will act as his deputy in the mega ICC event this year.
