Best Games Like Stardew Valley

Story of Seasons/Harvest Moon Series

If you love Stardew Valley but haven't tried out the OG farming sim Harvest Moon, now is a great time! The Story of Seasons/Harvest Moon series is considered the first farming sim, with the first game being released in 1996 in Japan. However, you might be wondering why the series has two names. Harvest Moon is the name of the first game of the Story of Seasons series, but in the West, the entire series was called "Harvest Moon." In 2012, Natsume Inc. (the publisher of the series in the West) and Marvelous (the developer and Japanese publisher of the series) split. Natsume continued to make games under the Harvest Moon title due to owning the rights to the name, and Marvelous released new Story of Seasons games in the west under the "Story of Seasons" title (through their American division, XSEED Games). If that's confusing…we get it, it totally is.Many fans of the series recommend only playing Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons games developed by Marvelous and published by Natsume pre-2012 and XSEED Games post-2012. The games in this series allow you to grow crops, raise animals, traverse the mines, meet townsfolk, and get married. Developer: Marvelous Platforms: PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PSP, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Wii, GameCube, SNES, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance Genre(s): RPG, farming sim, life sim

Rune Factory Series

The Rune Factory series is another OG farming/life sim game that began as a spin-off to Story of Seasons, but quickly became its own full-fledged series. Much like Story of Seasons, Rune Factory also has farming, raising animals, and the social aspect of living in a tight-knit community, but it has a fantasy setting and introduces monster slaying and dungeon crawling. And just like Stardew Valley, you can get married in this game, too, if romance is the aspect you're looking for. Most of the games in the series (and its spin-offs) have pretty good reviews, though you'll need an older console to play some of the older titles. Developer: Neverland, Hakama, Marvelous Platforms: PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS Genre(s): Fantasy RPG, farming sim, life sim

My Time Series

There are currently two games in the My Time series: My Time at Portia and My Time at Sandrock, with a third unreleased game on the way (My Time at Evershine). The My Time series is very similar to Stardew in that they're also story-based games that have farming, crafting, and monster combat. Each game also features a vast cast of characters that you can meet in town, all with their own personalities—and you can even get married to some of them. The art style is quite a bit different, but if that isn't an issue for you, then the My Time games are a great choice to play after Stardew Valley. Developer: Pathea Games Platforms: PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android Genre(s): RPG, farming sim, life sim

Coral Island

Coral Island is another farming sim that feels very similar to Stardew Valley but is also incredibly unique. The setting of Coral Island is, well, on an island, where your character can farm, raise animals, dive to find treasure, meet new friends, and save the coral reef surrounding the island itself. And yes, Coral Island has a cast of romanceable characters—a whopping 28 of them, which is more than double what Stardew offers. The game was originally released in Early Access on Steam and fully released in 2023. However, the developers are continuing to put out updates regularly with even more content for players to enjoy. Developer: Stairway Games Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S Genre(s): RPG, farming sim, life sim

Fields of Mistria

Fields of Mistria is an upcoming farming sim that's currently available in Early Access on Steam. And like Stardew Valley, it's got an adorable pixel art style—but Mistria's art has more of a 90s anime flair. In Fields of Mistria, you can grow crops, go fishing, craft items, delve into the mines, and even learn how to cast magical spells that will help you with your daily tasks. There's a cast of fun and interesting townsfolk to meet, with 12 of them being romanceable (though full heart progression isn't available in the EA version of the game). One fun and interesting feature is that you can breed rare color variants of your animals. Developer: NPC Studio Platforms: PC Genre(s): RPG, farming sim, life sim

Sun Haven

If you want a fantasy farming sim but you're also looking for a super cute pixel art style, look no further than Sun Haven. Sun Haven is a farming sim with a ton of customizability: you can adjust the settings to make the game harder or easier depending on your preferences and how you want to play the game. You can grow crops, tend to animals, and learn spells—plus the game offers multiplayer for you and up to 8 friends. There are a total of 23 marriage candidates in the game (and for the fantasy lovers out there, not all of the romanceable characters are human, either). Developer: Pixel Sprout Studios Platforms: PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch Genre(s): Fantasy RPG, farming sim, life sim

Wylde Flowers

Wylde Flowers is a fantasy farming sim, but not in the same way that Sun Haven is. Wylde Flowers instead focuses on witches, and the main character can spend her time farming and growing her powers as a spellcaster. The game is fully voice-acted and has a host of 30 diverse characters, including 7 that can be romanced. Besides farming, keeping animals, cooking, and crafting, you can also brew potions and learn magic spells. Wylde Flowers also has a prequel, Wylde Society, that's been announced and will be released in the future. Wylde Society isn't a farming sim, but if you like Wylde Flowers, you might be interested in this upcoming title. Developer: Studio Drydock Platforms: PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch, iOS Genre(s): Fantasy, farming sim, life sim

Roots of Pacha

The biggest difference between Roots of Pacha and Stardew Valley is the setting. While Stardew is set in a typical rural community, Roots of Pacha is set many, many years in the past—so far back you're in the prehistoric times. In Roots of Pacha, you can farm, raise animals (like Wooly Mammoths!) and craft tools. You can also discover new things as you play, including new crops. You can play solo, or you can develop your tribe in co-op gameplay. Developer: Soda Den Platforms: PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch Genre(s): RPG, farming sim, life sim

Littlewood

Littlewood, like Stardew Valley, is a [[Games-Like-It-Takes-Two|cozy], pixel art farming sim. What makes this game unique is the premise: you saved the world from dark forces, but you can't remember what happened. In the game, you'll forge bonds with the people of Littlewood while rebuilding your life as well as the town. You can grow crops, raise animals, collect items, craft items, as well as build and decorate the town of Littlewood. Developer: Sean Young Platforms: PC, Mac, Linux, Nintendo Switch Genre(s): RPG, farming sim, life sim

Snacko

Snacko is a relatively new game, having been released in May of 2025. However, many players say it combines the best parts of Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing for an incredibly fun, cozy gaming experience. In Snacko, you can explore, craft, farm, and meet super cute characters around town. There are 26 characters to meet, and 21 of those characters can be romanced. You can also tailor your game experience to meet your needs with a ton of options to adjust gameplay. Developer: Bluecurse Studios Platforms: PC, Linux, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch Genre(s): Adventure, farming sim, life sim

Graveyard Keeper

If you want a game in the spirit of Stardew Valley but with a slightly darker (and more humorous) twist, try Graveyard Keeper. In Graveyard Keeper, you play as, well, a graveyard keeper during medieval times. Your main goal is to expand your graveyard as a business, but you can also expand into other ventures to make as much money as possible. There are also quests to complete, dungeons to explore, and much more. Developer: Lazy Bear Games Platforms: PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android Genre(s): RPG, life simulator, town builder

Travellers Rest

In Travellers Rest, you play as a tavern keeper trying to run the best business that you possibly can. You can farm crops, craft new items, go fishing, and cook up delicious dishes for your tavern guests. You can also rearrange your tavern, changing the furniture design to fit your tastes. This game is still in Early Access, but the developers are updating the game regularly with new features. The latest update even added cute pets for your character! Developer: Isolated Games Platforms: PC, Linux Genre(s): RPG, life sim, management

Dinkum

Much like other farming sims, you'll be able to grow crops, raise animals, build a farm, and go exploring in Dinkum. What makes this game unique is that it also blends survival aspects into the gameplay, which makes sense since the game is based on Australia. Dinkum can be played alone or in multiplayer mode, and you can use the money you earn from selling your goods or harvested materials to grow your town and make it flourish. Developer: James Bendon Platforms: PC Genre(s): Farming sim, survival craft, life sim

Kynseed

Of all the games on this list, Kynseed is probably the most akin to a sandbox game. While you can still run a farm, explore, meet townsfolk, and forge relationships, there's also so much more you can do in this game. Want to run a business? In Kynseed, you can be a blacksmith, an apothecary, and more. Kynseed also has an aging mechanic—all the characters in the game grow older with each passing year, including your character. Once your character passes on, you can continue the game by playing as one of your children. Developer: PixelCount Studios Platforms: PC Genre(s): RPG, farming sim, sandbox

Wanderstop

Wanderstop is a unique cozy game made by the creators of The Stanley Parable. It's more narrative-centric than Stardew Valley, but still offers farming sim mechanics and plenty of characters to get to know and love. In Wanderstop, you play as the manager of a tea shop in a magical forest, with plenty of customers to keep happy. If you love story-driven games, give this title a try. Developer: Ivy Road Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5 Genre(s): Farming sim, life sim, adventure

Summer in Mara

In Summer of Mara, you play as a little girl exploring the island she lives on, plus other islands in the surrounding area. You can farm, keep animals, make tools, and live a relaxing life on the island of Mara. What makes this game different is the exploration; instead of being stuck on just one island, you can use a boat to traverse the ocean to visit new places. There's a whole cast of characters you can meet and become friends with. The game also features a day and night cycle that will change the world with various events. Developer: Chibig Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch Genre(s): Farming sim, life sim, adventure

Fae Farm

In Fae Farm, you can do all the normal farming sim things, such as harvest crops and raise animals—but you get to do it all while being a fairy. This game has an incredibly cute art style, and is a great choice for Stardew fans who want a similar experience in a brand new setting. The game also has multiplayer, and you can play with up to three other people to create your farm, take down enemies, and explore. Developer: Phoenix Labs Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch Genre(s): Fantasy RPG, farming sim, life sim

Disney Dreamlight Valley

While Disney Dreamlight Valley isn't necessarily a farming sim, many Stardew players cited it as being a similarly cozy game that's incredibly fun to play. In Disney Dreamlight Valley, you can do several things, including gardening, cooking, fishing, and more. What makes this game even more charming is that you can do all of these things alongside your favorite Disney characters. Developer: Gameloft Platforms: PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android Genre(s): Adventure, RPG, life sim

Potion Permit

In Potion Permit, you play as a chemist who works in a town healing the residents. While doing so, you also get to know them, and you can spend your time brewing potions, collecting ingredients, fighting monsters, and more. This game is less of a farming sim but still has the same feel as Stardew Valley. If you're a fan of management sim games, this will likely be a great title to play next. Developer: MassHive Media Platforms: PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Android Genre(s): Life sim, adventure, management

Spiritfarer

While Spiritfarer isn't a farming sim game, many Stardew Valley fans said this game scratched their Stardew Valley itch while playing. Spiritfarer is a management sim where the main character ferries souls into the afterlife. While that might sound grim, the game itself has a hopeful outlook, beautiful art style, and the story has touched countless players over the years. However, since this game covers the topics of death and dying, it may not be suitable for all players. Developer: Thunder Lotus Games Platforms: PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android Genre(s): Management, simulation, adventure
