'People Seated Beside Him Should Have Raised Voice Right Away': Akhtar Slams Razzaq For Distasteful Remarks on Aishwarya
Shoaib Akhtar condemned Abdul Razzaq's comments and also said that players who were seated beside him should have raised their voices.

Shoaib Akhtar has slammed Abdul Razzaq for his distasteful comments involving Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Razzaq was present at an event alongside other former Pakistan cricketers where he talked about his team’s 2009 T20 World Cup triumph. The former all-rounder was talking about the intentions of PCB and the players as he mentioned Aishwarya’s name while referring his thoughts which were not appropriate.

Akhtar, who is vocal about his views and opinions on social media, took to X, formerly known as Twitter and condemned Razzaq’s comments and also said that players who were seated beside him should have raised their voices.

“I highly condemn the inappropriate joke/comparison made by Razzaq. No woman should be disrespected like this. People seated beside him should have raised their voice right away rather than laughing & clapping,” Akhtar wrote.

The likes of Shahid Afridi and Umar Gul were also part of the event and were seen smiling and clapping after Razzaq’s controversial remarks.

Meanwhile, speaking about the “neeyat” (intention) of the Pakistan board, Razzaq said, “Here, I am referring to their (PCB’s) intention. While I was playing, I was aware of my captain Younis Khan’s good intentions. That gave me strength and confidence, and with Allah’s help, I was able to perform well for Pakistani cricket.”

In a bid to clear his thoughts, Razzaq said, “We don’t really intend to improve and enhance the players, in my opinion. That will never happen if you believe that I will marry Aishwarya (Rai) to have a good-natured and moral child. Therefore, you must first amend your intentions.”

The former Pakistan all-rounder faced backlash for his distasteful comment on social media and people from both India and Pakistan slammed him.

Former Pakistan cricketers Mohammad Yousaf and Waqar Younis slammed their compatriot for his distasteful remarks.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan cricket team also failed to qualify for the semi-final in the ongoing cricket World Cup as they won only four matches out of 9.
