Virender Sehwag has lashed out at his critics after the former Indian opener posted a ‘Bye Bye Pakistan’ social media update recently. Sehwag was criticised by some fans but the swashbuckling opener claimed that Pakistan have only shown ‘hate’ to India, and they cannot expect love in reply.
Following New Zealand’s 5-wicket win over Sri Lanka, Sehwag had put out a post about Pakistan players having a safe flight going back home from India as their chances of reaching the semifinals were very complicated following the Kiwis’ victory.
The 45-year-old faced some heat from a section of fans subsequently, but he explained his earlier post by showing how prominent Pakistan figures have continuously shown hatred for India.

Sehwag pointed out how former Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif trolled the Indian team and PCB chief Zaka Ashraf had earlier referred to India as ‘dushman mulk’.
“In the 21st century there have been 6 ODI world cups. In 6 attempts, only once in 2007 did we not qualify for the semi-finals and have qualified in 5 of the last 6 World cups. On the other hand only once have Pakistan qualified for the semis in 6 attempts in 2011,” wrote Sehwag.
“Their Prime Minister mocks us when we lose to another team despite having beaten them. Upon reaching here, their player posts pictures of enjoying tea in Hyderabad with sarcasm to mock our soldier. The PCB chief on camera refers to our country as Dushman Mulk. And they expect love for their hate,” his post read further.

“And those preaching class, that is a two way street. Jo Achha vyavhar kare uske saath hum bahut hi achhe, aur jo aisa vyavhar kare toh sahi mauke par soot samet lautana is my way. On field bhi, off-field bhi,” the former Indian opener added.
Pakistan’s chances of qualifying for the semifinals took a major hit on Saturday as they faced off against England. Jos Buttler won the toss and elected to bat first, which means that the Men in Green needed to bowl out England as soon as possible and pull off the chase with more than 283 balls to spare.
