Glenn Maxwell’s wife Vini Raman had to go through online trolling after Australia defeated India in the ICC World Cup 2023 final on Sunday in Ahmedabad. The Aussies saved the best for the final as they outsmarted an invincible Indian side by 6 wickets to register a record 6th title triumph. They kicked off their campaign with losses to India and South Africa. But they bounced back, won 9 games on the trot and sought revenge from the sides they were defeated by at the beginning of the tournament.
But the victory led to a severe trolling of Maxwell’s wife who hails from India. The dejected fans targeted her for supporting the Aussies despite being an Indian. But Raman didn’t hold herself back from shutting the trolls.
Taking to her Instagram account, she answered the haters stating that they should direct their outrage towards ‘more important world issues’.
“Cue all the hateful vile DMs. Stay classy.”
“Can’t believe this needs to be said BUT you can be Indian and also support the country of your birth where you have been raised and more importantly the team your husband + father of your plays in #nobrainer.
“Take a chill pill and direct the outrage towards more important world issues,” said Raman on Instagram.

Vini is an Indian-origin Australian citizen who is a practising pharmacist in Melbourne. Their relationship reportedly began after they met at a Melbourne Stars, BBCL team, event and have been dating ever since. Maxwell and Raman got engaged last year on February 21, 2021.
They had tied the knot with his Indian-origin girlfriend in March 2022. The couple welcomed their first child two months ago. The duo had undertaken Christian rituals as well as a traditional Tamil-style wedding.
Meanwhile, Maxwell had a great run in World Cup 2023. He not only smashed the fastest hundred in the tournament history, off just 40 balls against The Netherlands, but he also got his first ODI double-ton, against Afghanistan in Mumbai, which was also the highest individual score in the tournament.
