Skymet said that for the next 4-5 days or so, the chances of rain remain. Conditions also remain favourable for light rains until the weekend.

Delhi-NCR was shrouded in thick clouds early on Friday as residents geared up for offices. Some places reported rain with gusty winds, while other areas witnessed waterlogging.

The weather department has forecast generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall in Delhi over the next five days.

In the morning, the India Meteorological Department posted on X: “Delhi-NCR most likely to experience gusty winds of speed 50-70 kmph and moderate rain with few occasional intense spell due to approaching clouds from northwest Uttar Pradesh till around 09:30 am of today thereafter gusty winds and rain spell will decrease gradually.”

On Thursday, the maximum temperature settled four notches above the season’s average at 37.6 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature was recorded at 27.8 degrees.

Skymet, a private weather forecasting agency, has predicted that the national capital and its neighbouring regions will see more downpour in association with the low pressure area which is likely to move inland.

The report stated that the wind pattern has already been changing and predominantly become easterly over the Indo Gangetic Plains seen even up to Delhi in the lower levels. The Monsoon trough is running south of its normal position. These features will bring in some rains over Delhi and NCR.

Skymet said that for the next 4-5 days or so, the chances of rain remain. Rains will be mostly light and isolated pockets may see moderate showers.

It’s bulletin on Thursday had predicted more showers for Friday, September 15, and Saturday, September 16, as the “system may come closer almost abeam Delhi, resulting in more showers during this period”.

Conditions also remain favourable for light rains until the weekend, it stated.
