Fashion designer and actor Masaba Gupta has condemned former Pakistani cricketer Ramiz Raja for laughing at a racist remark aimed at her parents—cricket icon Vivian Richards and veteran actor Neena Gupta. Masaba expressed her disappointment on X (previously known as Twitter) on Wednesday, saying that he lacks grace.

She took to her X handle and wrote, “Dear Ramiz Raja ( sir ) grace is a quality few have. My father, mother and I have it in spades. You have none. Sickening to see you laugh on national TV in Pakistan at something the world stopped laughing at about 30 years back.Step into the future. All 3 of us are here with our chin up. #ramizraja.” Many fans were seen in the comment section praising Masaba.

Take a look here:

Masaba responded following the circulation of a two-month-old clip on social media, where Ramiz Raja was seen laughing at a comment on a Pakistani TV news channel. In the video, the ex-Pakistan Cricket Board chief chuckled as a comedian on the show made offensive remarks, saying that Vivian broke her heart when he began dating Neena. In the clip, we can see a comedian is seen making fun of Vivian’s skin colour. When the host of the show asked the comic if she followed cricket or not, she answered, “I do watch cricket matches and my heart broke when Vivian Richards went into a relationship with Neena Gupta. I wrote a couplet then. ‘Jo ladkiyan khud ko kehti hain malika-e-aliya, Unko fir milta hai Mr Kaliya.’”

Recently, Masaba shared a series of pictures featuring father Vivan Richards and wrote, “A special Diwali. Papa and lots of pyaar from people who bring light into my life everyday.Have a great year, everyone.” Earlier in January this year, Masaba married actor Satyadeep Mishra in a simple, pastel-themed wedding ceremony. Her father, cricketer Vivian Richards had also flown to India for the ceremony.
