IND vs NZ: Spectators Advised to Reach Mumbai Stadium by Public Transport; Check Traffic Curbs
Mumbai: The semi-final match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 between India and New Zealand is scheduled to take place at 2 pm at the Wankhede Stadium

Mumbai Police issued a traffic advisory for spectators ahead of the semi-final match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 between India and New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday.

Pravin Mundhe, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Zone 1, said security measures have been tightened for the high-octane clash.

Mundhe also said that these instructions are not to cause any inconvenience to the spectators, but rather for a safe and secure conducting of the match.

Mumbai Police’s Advisory

  1. Spectators are requested to reach the venue early as the process of entry into the stadium will begin at 11:30, which is well before the scheduled time — 2pm — of the match.
  2. To avoid any sort of delay, people coming to watch the semi-finals are requested to avoid carrying bags, power banks, papers, objectionable pamphlets, posters, pens or any such objects. This will help them complete the security check quickly.
  3. Spectators are also requested to avoid carrying any inflammable article such as lighter or matchbox and any kind of tobacco products.
  4. Spectators are suggested to take public transport, as there is no parking in the vicinity of the stadium.
  5. Those who will take local trains can get down at the Church Gate station to approach Gate no 1, 2 and 7 of the stadium.
  6. To access Gate no 3, 4 and 5A of the stadium, it would be convenient for the spectators to get down at Marine Lines station (local train).

Diversions in Major Traffic Routes

  • D Road will be made one way (from West to East) for vehicular traffic from its junction at NS Road (Marine Drive) &and towards the junction of E & C Road.
  • C Road will be made one Way (from East to West) for vehicular movement from its junction with E Road towards the junction of NS Road (Marine Drive).
  • E Road will be made one Way (South Bound) for all types of vehicular movement from the junction of D Road towards its junction of C Road.
  • Matchgoers using Gate Number 01, 03 and 07 are requested to use Churchgate station.
  • Spectators using Gate Number 4 & 5 A shall use Marine Lines, F road.
  • People using Gate Number 04 & 05A are requested to use Marine Lines station, F Road to ply instead, an official notification said.

There are no parking facilities at Wankhede Stadium and people have been advised to use public transport. However, some official parking lots are available near Churchgate station.

Mumbai Police Asks People Not Buy Tickets From Black Market

Mumbai Police asked people not to buy tickets from the black market, saying it is strictly condemned.

“In the run up to Semifinal match at Wankehde Stadium, J.J Marg Pstn laid a trap and arrested an accused from Malad who was selling the #IndVsNZ match tickets at 5X price in black market. Let’s strive to maintain the cricketing spirit by not engaging in such unlawful activities! Buying & Selling of tickets in the Black Market is strictly condemned,” Mumbai Police wrote in an Instagram post.
