Pakistani actor Fawad Khan is set to return to screens with his upcoming supernatural fantasy drama, Barzakh. Reuniting with his Zindagi Gulzar Hai co-star Sanam Saeed, the Asim Abbasi-directed show will premiere on July 19. The series centres around the lead couple, Shehryar (Fawad) and Scheherezade (Sanam). Joining them in the cast are Salman Shahid, Eman Suleman, Khusshal Khan and others in prominent roles. Barzakh will be released on Friday, July 19 on ZEE5 and OTTPlay Premium. Besides, the show will also be released on Zindagi’s YouTube channel (premium). It will air every Tuesday and Friday at 8 PM on the aforementioned platforms.

The six-episode series revolves around a family drama that will unfold after a reclusive resort owner invites his estranged children to his final wedding.

As shown in the trailer, it tells the story of a 76-year-old man who wishes to marry the ghost of his first love. He invites his children to the wedding, however, leaving them in a fix after finding that the bride-to-be is a long-dead woman who is nowhere to be seen.

Determined to meet his first love on the other side of the world, the show will delve into the complexities of the afterlife. It is set against the beautiful backdrop of the Hunza Valley in Pakistan. It will also address mental health, postpartum depression, generational trauma and gender inclusivity.

While Fawad questions his father’s belief in marrying the unseen bride, Sanam’s character believes in the power of love. Directed by Asim Abbasi, the show is produced by Shailja Kejriwal and Waqas Hussain.

While fans are hugely excited to catch Fawad Khan’s latest show, many also wonder if the actor will make a Bollywood comeback. Speaking on the same, Khan told India Today, “Only time and the situation will tell what will happen. It was an unfortunate series of events that led to where we are today. But when the time is right, things will happen on their own."
