Marathi artist duo Chinmay Mandlekar and his wife Neha Joshi Mandlekar have received hate-mongering comments after keeping the name of their child Jehangir. Trolls have been bullying the couple for a long time now. After enduring such negative comments for a long time, the Shivrayancha Chhava actor has decided to not play the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj anymore. This comes at a time when Chinmay has played the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj 6 times and won accolades for his impeccable acting skills. In a video uploaded on Instagram, the artist said that he is an actor by profession and anyone can criticise him in a professional capacity. The 45-year-old actor said that he would also accept it but would not be able to accept any allegations on his personal life. Chinmay expressed dismay over the fact that his family is being harassed online and he is also receiving hate for the characters portrayed on screen. The artist said that he holds paramount respect for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and expressed regard for the characters played on screen. However, from now on, he will not enact the role of the revered Maratha leader in films.

Not only Chinmay, but his wife Neha has also called out the trolls for harassing them for their child’s name. Neha said that Jehangir is a Persian name and he was born on March 21, 2013. According to her, the Jamshedi Navroz, or the Persian New Year is observed on that day and this motivated them to name her child Jehangir. She said that for this reason, the name Jehangir is beautiful and it doesn’t matter who persuaded them to keep this name.
Neha also talked about the meaning of the name Jehangir, which means the one who holds supremacy in the world. According to her, she has also named her son Jehangir considering the meaning attached to this name. She also gave the example of the renowned industrialist JRD Tata or Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata. Neha said that even if Jehangir is a Muslim name, then what’s the issue behind it? According to her, people have co-existed along with Muslims for a long time now.
