Veteran actor Deepak Parashar has got candid about his fondness for his ‘Insaaf Ka Tarazu’ co-star Zeenat Aman. Deepak revealed that he was madly in love with Zeenat, but his mother did not approve of their relationship.
In conversation with Times Network, Deepak revealed that he still has feelings for the ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’ star. “Zeenat Aman and I were friends and we shared our joys and sorrows together. We became closer by the day but my mother put a full stop to it. She said ‘You will not be successful if you marry her,’ so I was in two minds,” Deepak said in his interview.
When asked why he stopped pursuing Zeenat, Deepak said, “It was because she had too much going on and she needed to be left alone. We had some conversations regarding the same and she told me she wasn’t sure about it as she was fighting cases and felt destroyed (after her messy relationship with Sanjay Khan).”
Zeenat Aman later married Mazhar Khan but they were divorced in 1998. Deepak recalled, “Mazhar started pursuing her and he somehow caught her weaknesses and emotions. Suddenly I got to know that they are married. But she had a tough time with him as well.”
He then recounted his last meeting with Zeenat 10 years ago. “Zeenat jaisi koi ladki nahin. When I met her in 2014 (at a fashion show), I told her I wanted her to be my bride. I still have feelings for her. She is the best mother, best daughter. She is a great wife. I am very proud of her,” Deepak said.
Two days back, Zeenat spoke about how she broke her mother’s heart after she eloped with ex-husband Mazhar Khan. She took to her Instagram account to share a lengthy note, dedicating to her mother.
“Mummy never thought any man was worthy of me (she was onto something there), and it was the only matter that we ever locked horns on,” Zeenat recalled in her post. “Even then, if I were ever low, I would crawl into her bed in our apartment off Nepean Sea Road, lay by her side, and hold her hand. No words would be spoken, but my turmoil would settle and I would feel secure. I indeed broke her heart a little when I eloped, but it mended with the birth of my first son, who shares a birthday with her.”
