YoonA, a prominent member of the South Korean girl group Girls’ Generation, will reportedly attend the 77th Cannes Film Festival. One of the biggest international film festivals, the glittery event will be held at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès on the French Rivera from May 14 to May 25. Veteran actress Meryl Streep will be the guest of honour at the opening ceremony scheduled to take place at the Grand Theatre Lumiere. Meanwhile, Barbie director Greta Gerwig will chair the jury. Among the noteworthy celebrities ready to grace the occasion, YoonA seems to have reserved a spot on the guest list.
According to a Korean media outlet Dispatch, YoonA will walk the Cannes red carpet on May 19 as the brand ambassador of the popular jewellery brand Queelin, under the Kering Group. Sources claimed that she got an invitation from the company itself. Alongside making an appearance at the gala ceremony, YoonA might also participate in the premiere of director Ryoo Seung-wan’s upcoming action-comedy sequel Veteran 2. She is also said to attend the “Kering Women in Motion dinner”, slated to be organised on the same evening. What’s more? The King The Land fame will participate in a magazine photo shoot at the Cannes.
YoonA and her management company SM Entertainment are yet to confirm the news. However, fans of the singer are already waiting with bated breaths to watch the K-pop star take on the centre stage at the Cannes.
YoonA, also known as Im Yoon-ah, stepped into the music world as a member of Girls’ Generation in August 2007. Formed by SM Entertainment, the other artists in the team include Taeyeon, Jessica Jung, Seohyun, Tiffany, Kwon Yuri, Hyoyeon, Choi Soo-young, and Sunny. An active member of the group, YoonA marked her solo entry as a singer in 2019 with the release of her first mini-album A Walk To Remember.
YoonA is also a well-reckoned face in the film industry, with movies like The King in Love, Big Mouth, and King the Land to her name. She will next be seen in director Lee Sang-geun’s romantic comedy The Devil Has Moved In alongside actor Ahn Bo-hyun.
