Ex-NCT Star Lucas Set To Shine As Solo Singer After 3 Year Hiatus: 'Ready Now'

Lucas Wong, the former member of NCT, is making a comeback after a three-year break as a solo singer. His agency, SM Entertainment, officially confirmed the news through statements to various South Korean media outlets and the K-pop sensation is set to debut as a solo artist in April. As of now, preparations are currently underway for his grand return. All these years, the singer was away from the spotlight, after he found himself embroiled in controversy regarding his private life in 2021. Due to this, he was suspended from his group activities. Two years later, in 2023, he decided to officially part ways with NCT, but chose to stay with SM. Most recently, Lucas gave hope to his fans about his return by creating an official social media account and addressed the controversy through a YouTube documentary. He even apologised and expressed regret to his fellow NCT members.

In the documentary, Wong says, “What I realized for the first time was I have so many good people around me. Although I’ll work as a solo artist, I could really feel for the first time that the staff was constantly helping me. I realized they were always there, supporting me. Whatever I do, I don’t quit in the middle. My manager always tells me, ‘Not to push myself too hard.’ But for my fans and those who are rooting for me, I won’t quit. I really miss my fans, I’m so sorry I let them down. Something like that won’t happen again, I won’t engage in such foolish behaviours that I’ve done in the past ever again. I’m ready now, I’ll move forward.”

Meanwhile, SM Entertainment, in an official statement to Dispatch, said, “Lucas is preparing for his solo activities targeting next month. Detailed schedules will be released later.”

In a series of unfortunate events, things started to get worse for Lucas on August 23 when a fan of the singer claimed she was ex-girlfriend of the former NCT member and made several accusations against him. This revelation led others to share their experiences, a Chinese person also came forward with allegations against Lucas’ behaviour. The scandal escalated, as more people came forward, which further intensified the controversy.

Responding to the uproar, SM Entertainment had issued a statement addressing the allegations. On the other hand, Lucas posted a handwritten apology letter on Instagram, expressing regret and shared that he’ll take time to reflect on his past behaviour.
