On his birthday on June 25, Aftab Shivdasani announced his return with the sequel to ‘Kasoor’, starring Urvashi Rautela. The original 2001 film, starring Lisa Ray, was a sleeper hit known for its very popular songs. Aftab has already begun shooting for the sequel, sharing photos from the set with a serious, bespectacled look reminiscent of the original film.
Aftab shared photos from Kasoor 2 sets and wrote, “On this special day, as I turn a year older, the only gift i ask for is your love and blessings. Thank you for all the love over the years. I’m very grateful and blessed to be working on this birthday on a very special film that means a lot to me. Love and gratitude. #kasoor (sic).”
Kasoor is a psychological horror film featuring three main characters. Directed by Glen Barretto and written by Mudassar Aziz, the project is presented by Bablu Aziz. Another male lead actor is expected to be announced soon.
Confirming the sequel, producer Asif Shaikh said, as reported by India Today, “It’s a very unique concept—a musical romance horror. When Aftab heard the story, he was very excited about the subject. The audience will see Aftab Shivdasani in a very different role on the silver screen. It’s an author-backed role, and we are in the process of finalizing one female lead and another male lead alongside Aftab. The announcement for these roles will follow soon.”
Kasoor, released in 2001, was a hit Bollywood thriller directed by Vikram Bhatt. It starred Aftab Shivdasani as Shekhar Saxena, whose life takes a tragic turn when his wife Kiran, played by Lisa Ray, is found dead. The film’s gripping storyline, combined with Aftab Shivdasani’s acclaimed performance and Lisa Ray’s impactful role, contributed to its popularity. The soundtrack, composed by Nadeem-Shravan, featured hit songs like Kitni Bechain Hoke, which further popularised its appeal among audiences.
