Woman held for killing 9-month-old son

SIVAKASI: A woman was arrested here on Thursday on the charge of murdering her nine-month-old son. Maduraipandi (23) of Alamarathupatti, near Sivakasi, was a worker in a fireworks unit. He and his wife Durgadevi (20) had a nine-month-old son Mukeshpandi. Owing to domestic dispute, Durgadevi was living with her mother.Maduraipandi received an information on Wednesday that their son had died. Suspecting foul play in the death, Maduraipandi lodged a complaint with the Sivakasi east police. A postmortem conducted on the body of the child on Thursday revealed that he had been strangled to death. When the police questioned Durgadevi, she is said to have confessed that she killed her son due to problems with her husband. She was then arrested.
