DHENKANAL: A daily wager was beaten and robbed in front of the SP's residence near the Dhenkanal Main Stadium here on Sunday. The woman, identified as Sukumari Purty from Sukinda, had come here to work in a road construction project.
Sources said, Sukumari sustained serious injuries and was bleeding profusely after unidentified persons, in absence of her husband, looted her and decamped.A wounded Sukumari was seen lying unattended in the balcony of Sports Authority of India complex with her eightmonthold toddler close by.

She was later admitted to the district headquarters hospital here by Red Cross Rapid Response volunteers Biranchi Narayan Pany and Niranjan Mishra. Red Cross will foot Purty's medical bill, Pany said.
