BANGALORE: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda assured JD(S) leader H D Deve Gowda that the government will take appropriate steps to book the people behind the alleged murder of Siddalinga Prabhu, a farmer of Sompura village who had opposed the land acquisition by NICE company for a road project. “I will discuss with the officers investigating the alleged murder and ascertain the pace and direction of the probe. I will convey the factual position in a couple of days to you,” the CM told Gowda, when the latter called on him with a delegation on Friday. Gowda, who led a dharna of DSS activists, met the CM along with social activists.Earlier, addressing dalit activists who marched from Sompura, Gowda said the widespread belief is that NICE company chairman Ashok Kheny and BJP leader Rudresh were allegedly behind Prabhu’s murder, but the police were turning a blind eye. “If the state police are unable to touch Kheny and Rudresh because of their clout, then let the case be handed over to the CBI,” Gowda said.
