This is Killur village in Belthangady town of Dakshina Kannada district, located in the foothills of the Western Ghats. It is said that this place looks like heaven during the monsoon season.

The small flow of the Netravati River, also known as the Bantwal River in the Western Ghats, is on the one hand, and the view of the mountain peaks of the Western Ghats can be seen all around. Killur village, which is around 50 kilometres away from Belthangady town, is now a tourist’s paradise.

The streams found along the Western Ghats and the foggy environment of the Western Ghats make it a pleasant place for relaxation. The number of tourists who come to witness the beauty of all these along with the rain has been increasing day by day.

According to reports, the shooting of the popular 2003 film Chigurida Kanasu, directed by TS Nagabharana and starring Shiva Rajkumar, Anant Nag, Vidhya Venkatesh, Rekha Unnikrishnan, and Avinash, was done here. The film is considered one of the finest movies in the history of Kannada cinema. It is a milestone movie in the career of Shiva Rajkumar. Jayant Kaikini debuted as a lyricist with his first song, Bandhuve, sung by the legendary Dr Rajkumar. Kaikini would go on to become a very successful and popular lyricist in the Kannada film industry.

Recently, the number of tourists has also increased in this area, and the beauty of the village has filled the reels on social media. Meanwhile, as per the villagers, the tourists who come here to enjoy the beauty of the village shouldn’t hamper the environment of the area by throwing away plastic and liquor bottles. They prefer that these types of tourists shouldn’t enter the village.
