CHENNAI: It was celebration time for Holy Family Convent Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Medavakkam, as two of its students — M Suresh Paulraj and Mahalakshmi — found their way into the top ten rankers’ list for the Anna University engineering admissions that was released on Friday.While Suresh and Mahalakshmi bagged the third and eighth rank, respectively, it was V Divya of Tiruverumbur in Tiruchy who outscored all others in the rank list.Suresh (17) attributes his success to his teachers, parents and his effort to finish daily lessons without fail.Suresh said, “My parents never put any pressure on me to be a topper. But, they always motivated me to do my best.” He scored 1,175 marks with centums in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Suresh, though happy about his engineering rank, is keen on pursuing medicine. He said, “I always wanted to do medicine, it was my dream as well as my parents’.”Asked if he would practice in the city after becoming a doctor, Suresh replied, “No, I want to go back to my dad’s village near Tiruchendur and set up a hospital there and serve the rural poor.” Mahalakshmi (17), on the other hand, had always dreamt of being a computer engineer and is excited about joining Anna University.She said, “Computer technology intrigued and excited me. Today, there is no field which is not touched by software. I am looking forward to joining Anna University.”
