BLACKPINK's Jennie Announces October Comeback With Solo Project
Jennie's solo project will be released in October 2024, her company announced on Sunday.

It’s a happy time for all BLACKPINK fans! Jennie Kim, a significant member of the popular K-pop band, is set to make her comeback as a solo artist in October this year. On Sunday, September 8, the K-pop idol’s agency, OA (ODDATELIER), announced that Jennie had signed a deal with Columbia Records for a solo project, marking the start of an official partnership between her record label and the famous US company. Following the deal, Jennie’s new single is expected to come out in October 2024.

Both Columbia Records and OA Entertainment shared the news on their respective social media handles. “We are family,” the caption read.

Fans got super excited and thriller over the latest development, as they have been eagerly awaiting Blackpink’s return since the members went forward for solo activities. A fan wrote, “SO EXCITED OMGGGG CANT WAIT ANYMORE.”

“Thank you so much for starting a partnership with our Jenny! I am so excited to see the beautiful art that Jenny & y’all put out together!!!! JENNIE COMING SOON,” another commented.

Another fan added, “So excited for this new family masterpiece JENNIE IS COMING.”

BLACKPINK’s Future Projects

For those unaware, Jennie debuted as a BLACKPINK member in August 2016. The band went on to become one of Korea’s biggest music groups and is now also the most-followed girl group on Spotify. Back in December 2023, the rapper, along with her members Jisoo, Rose and Lisa, parted ways with YG Entertainment to pursue their solo careers.

“YG recently signed an extension contract for BLACKPINK’s group activities and agreed not to proceed with a separate additional contract for individual activities,” the agency said in a statement. However, the label will continue to collaborate with BLACKPINK for their future group activities. The members are expected to reunite for the group’s world tours and new music in 2025.

“There will be a highly anticipated comeback from BLACKPINK. And it will also be the year BLACKPINK starts their world tour,” said YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun-Suk in a YouTube video.

On the other hand, while Jennie launched her own company, OA Entertainment, Lisa and Jisso also established their respective labels, LLOUD and BLISSOO, in February this year. Rose signed with The Black Label, a YG subsidiary.
