Hyderabad: Telugu film star Chiranjeevi's father K Venkat Rao died at the actor's residence here Sunday night following brief illness. He was 76.
Venkat Rao had worked in the state Excise department and was a district Superintendent of Police (SP) before his retirement. He had also acted in two Telugu films.
Several prominent personalities, including political leaders, film stars and film producers, paid tribute to him.
He is survived by three sons and two daughters, Chiranjeevi being the eldest, Nagendra Babu, a noted producer and actor Pavan Kalyan. The cremation will be held on Monday evening.
