Teach Sriramulu, BJP a lesson, says Kharge

BELLARY: Senior Congress leader and Union Minister Mallikarjuna Kharge, who campaigned for party candidate B Ramprasad for Bellary Rural constituency, urged people to teach B Sriramulu and the BJP a lesson. He accused them of being the reason for the bypoll, which has become a burden on the exchequer.Addressing people at Halakundi village near Bellary on Sunday, Kharge took exception to Sriramulu’s act whose resignation from the state Assembly resulted in conducting the bypoll, thus spending crores of public money. He asked why other leaders from the party did not resign. When drama and blackmailing did not work, Sriramulu left the party by forcing an expensive election, he said. These people and the BJP, have forced 21 such by-polls on the state in over three years and need to be taught a lesson, he said.He hoped that the Congress would regain its glory in Bellary which had been its citadel earlier.
