Stir against ending deputations flayed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The AITUC-led Supplyco Employees Union has flayed the agitations by right-wing service organisations against the move to stop the practice of deputation in Supplyco. In a press release here, union district president Pattom Sasidharan said that large number of deputations in the corporation has jeopardised the promotion chances of employees. He said that while service organisations are well aware of this circumstance prevailing in Supplyco, it is a betrayal of the cause of employees to work against reforms. The Civil Supplies Minister had done the correct thing by stating that the practice which had been continuing for almost 37 years, will be stopped. Agitations will be held to urge the government to stop deputations and introduce pension to Supplyco employees, said the release jointly issued with secretary K Arjunan.
