Former minister B Sriramulu will appear before the Andhra Pradesh Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Hyderabad on Tuesday in connection with the alleged cash-for-bail deal.
With the possibility of arrest not being ruled out, the future of his newly-founded BSR Congress party seems uncertain.
The ACB is investigating the case, which is related to attempts to bribe a judge to secure bail for former minister and mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy.
“Notice has been issued asking Sriramulu to appear before the ACB.
Based on further probe, the investigating officer can take a decision to seek his arrest or consider him as a witness in the case,” sources said.
Earlier, both Suresh Babu and Somashekhar Reddy were asked to appear before the investigating agency prior to their arrest.
It is being said that the next few days will be crucial for the BSR ,which is still struggling to find some base.
Unlike in other established parties, everything revolves around Sriramulu in BSR Congress.
He is the only mass leader with the strong backing of his Valmiki community.
With his arrest, the new party may find it difficult to continue with the momentum started by Sriramulu.
“We do not have any apprehensions about his arrest,” Sriramulu’s sister and Bellary MP J Shanta told Express.
“Sriramulu is our leader and will continue to lead the party.
