BANGALORE: A 35-year-old man, who was smoking on the terrace of a three-storeyed building, lost balance and died after falling down, at Maruthinagar 9th Main Road in Madiwala on Tuesday night. The deceased has been identified as Elumalai, a native of Tamil Nadu, was residing in a rented house with his wife Arasu, a maid. He was working as a mason. According to police, the incident occurred around 1.30 at night when he was sitting on the edge of the terrace smoking, which was his regular spot and he fell down from the 3rd floor after losing balance. His neighbours rushed to the spot after hearing a big sound and found his body lying in a pool of blood. Paramedics, who rushed to spot with an ambulance declared that he died following heavy bleeding.His wife Arasu had been to her relatives house when the incident occurred and she used to alert Elumalai several times not to smoke while sitting on that particular place, but he did not take it seriously, the police explained. A case has been registered at Madiwala police station and investigations are on.
