CHENNAI: At a time when minors are taking to roads on powerful two and four-wheelers, the following organisations/individuals have come together to spread awareness about underage driving.Multidec, a Chennai-based Nutrition Company, Indian Red Cross Society, TN Chapter and Abirami Ramanathan-President, Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners’ Federation have come together to spread awareness about it.Unfortunately, parents and teachers seem equally and absolutely helpless in curbing this practice. All norms are flouted and everything goes in the name of fun until a mishap that snuffs out lives endangering not only the offender, but also the other innocent, law-abiding road users. The organisations and individuals have proposed to conduct an Inter collegiate short-film competition Josh 2012 which will mobilise public opinion against underage driving. The competition is open to all college students of any subject within Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Till date, they have received 71 entries from 25 colleges. The panel will consist of eminent personalities and experts in film related areas. The decision of the Jury will be final and binding on all the entrants. The first three best entries will be awarded Rs 50,000 along with a trophy, Rs 25,000 and a trophy and Rs 15,000 with a trophy respectively. Films made on 3D format will be awarded an additional Rs 25,000.The final date for submission of films is February 22.
