Saudi woman sentenced to 15 years for Qaeda links
The official Saudi Press Agency says that the woman sought to commit terrorist attacks in the kingdom.

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia says that a special tribunal has sentenced a Saudi women to 15 years in prison on terrorism-linked charges including aiding al Qaeda cells and insurgents seeking to enter Iraq.

The official Saudi Press Agency says the woman sought to "commit terrorist attacks" in the kingdom, financed anti-state groups with more than 1 million riyals ($266,000) and provided communications equipment. The woman also was convicted of helping issue forged IDs to people seeking to join the insurgency in Iraq.

The report did not identify the women sentenced on Saturday or give other details. She also is banned from traveling for 15 years after completing her sentence.

Saudi authorities have cracked down periodically in recent years on groups inspired by al Qaeda.
