Saina Nehwal faces Shixian Wang in Swiss Open semi-finals
India's Olympic bronze medalist is one win away from reaching the final of the Grand Prix Gold tournament; can she make it a hat-trick at Basel?

Basel: Olympic bronze medalist Saina Nehwal will take on fourth seed Shixian Wang of China in a bid to win her third Swiss Open title in a row on Sunday. The only Indian shuttler remaining in the USD 125,00 tournament, Saina remains on course for a tournament hat-trick against the opponent she beat in the final last year.

All signs are pointing to Saina's dominance. She also defeated Wang in the quarter-finals of the All England Badminton Championships early this month, and has a career head-to-head record of 4-1 over her opponent. Saina has won her last four encounters with Wang.

Saina stormed into the semifinals of the tournament after thrashing Tzu Ying Tai of Chinese Taipei here on Friday. The top seeded Indian outplayed her sixth seeded opponent 21-11 21-12 in a quarter-final match that lasted just 29 minutes.

The match starts at 01:30 IST.
