Driver Baskar, who was nabbed by police for stealing a truck with TASMAC liquor, had on Saturday asked two loadmen who were working with him to go home and return the next day, police said.
When the loadmen returned on Sunday, they were shocked to find the driver missing with the lorry and immediately alerted truck owner Vijaya Vasudevan, who then lodged a police complaint. Police said the driver was caught hours after he threw a party to his friends in his hometown in Tiruvannamalai district with the stolen liquor. “The drivers get paid on a daily basis. This particular driver took the vehicle simply because he wanted to make money. We arrested him in Polur,” said MV Manoharan, Inspector, Ambattur Industrial Estate.
