HYDERABAD: Power crisis in the state is likely to worsen in the coming days following Sakalajanula Samme as the government is not able to find alternative sources for supply of coal to thermal power stations.
The thermal power stations which are mainly dependent on Singareni coal, are hit as miners of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) joined the Samme for T cause and coal production came to a halt. Major thermal power plants in AP and neighbouring states are forced to stop power generation if the SCCL fails to resume coal production within a week.

Already, the NTPC Ramagundam unit had reduced its power generation by 700 MW as against its total capacity of 2600 MW. APTransco started imposing power cuts for two to four hours in the district and mandal headquarters from Thursday to bridge the gap between demand and supply.
