In the illegal assets case against the Kadapa MP, arrested mining baron Janardhan Reddy may be named as an accused...

HYDERABAD: It is not only the noose of illegal mining case that is hanging above Gali Janardhan Reddy. In all likelihood, he may be named as one of the accused in the illegal assets case against Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.“We do not rule it out. We are conducting parallel investigations into the Jagan case and the illegal mining case. Though there is no direct reference to the Gali brothers in the writ petition filed against Jagan Mohan Reddy (based on which the CBI filed its FIR), we may name him as accused when we get some evidence. The investigation is underway,’’ CBI sources told Express.Contrary to the reports that RR Global — which allegedly has links with Janardhan Reddy — invested in Jagan’s Jagati Publications, sources said the funding was by a more roundabout route. RR Global allegedly purchased iron ore from Y Mahabaleshwara and Sons, a mining company holding a lease in Obulapuram. It ws this company that made huge money through export of iron ore and invested in Jagati Publications, sources said.So far, Janardhan Reddy has been keeping his composure and claiming innocence. As the convoy of CBI Toyota Innovas drove him and his fellow accused from Bellary to Hyderabad on Monday, Janardhan Reddy appeared at ease, having seated himself comfortably. “I have not done any mischief,’’ he said to CBI additional SP R M Khan in the car. He put the blame on his brother-in-law and managing director of Obulapuram Mining Company, B Srinivas Reddy, who was being driven in another vehicle. “Srinivas is the man who was looking into the day-to-day activities of OMC. I was in no way associated with it and I did nothing wrong,’’ he reportedly said.“He was blaming his brother-in-law for the illegal mining in Obulapuram,’’ top sources confirmed to Express. One official said Asked about the role of Janardhan Reddy’s brothers -- G Karunakara Reddy and G Somasekhara Reddy -- CBI officials said their role may come out once Janardhana Reddy and Srinivas Reddy are grilled.Meanwhile, all the cash and gold that was seized from the Gali brothers’ houses in Bellary reached Hyderabad on Tuesday and will be deposited in court.
