New Delhi: It was a case that brought to light tales of sleaze, murder and betrayal in the corridors of power. Now, a new twist in the Amarmani-Madhumita tale has come to light.
A handwriting expert in Dehradun has confirmed that the love letters between poetess Madhumita Shukla and former Uttar Pradesh minister Amarmani Tripathi have been found genuine.
Agencies report that during in-camera proceedings before a Dehradun court headed by justice V B Roy, senior scientist and handwriting expert V K Khanna said he had verified the letters written by the couple.
Agencies quoted that CBI counsel M S Chand as saying that though Tripathi was present in the court, his wife Madhumani could not attend the proceedings due as she had taken ill.
Tripathi and his wife were remanded to judicial custody earlier this month after the Supreme Court transferred the case from Lucknow to Dehradun on the request of Maadhumita’s family.
