KOCHI: Four persons, including a CPM local leader and a woman, were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the Paravoor sex scandal case.
The Crime Branch officials said that the CPM leader, identified as K M Eldho of Kolenchery, surrendered before the Crime Branch office at Anjumana in the city.He has been absconding ever since his name figured in the list of the accused. The other arrested are Mohammed Salih, 29, of Plamootil House, Muvattupuzha, Lily alias Jancy, 56, of Kannampuzha, Thottumugham, and Beeran, 61, of Eloor.

Mohammed Salih owns a jewellery shop at Muvattupuzha. The Crime Branch had earlier arrested CPM local secretary Thomas Varghese in connection with the case. Police sources said that Thomas Varghese, along with Eldho, had reportedly taken the girl to a lodge at Thampanoor in Thiruvananthapuram where they allegedly abused her.

The Crime Branch has so far arrested a total of 45 persons in connection with the case. Police sources said that Beeran was arrested according to the information provided by Lily. The sexual abuse of the 14-year-old girl came to light three months ago after her mother lodged a complaint before the police submitting that her husband had forcefully taken the daughter to prostitution.
