New York Post in trouble, accused of racism
A carton portrays President Obama , who signed the stimulus bill as an ape.

New Delhi: The main editorial cartoon in Wednesday's New York Post has landed the paper in a racism row.

The cartoon which comes with a caption, "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill" has prompted accusations that the tabloid was peddling a longstanding racist slur by portraying president Barack Obama , who signed the bill into law, as an ape.

New York Times has denied any such intention saying that the cartoon was a mere parody of current news events and referred to the shooting of a violent chimpanzee in Connecticut.

The Post, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch, endorsed Obama over Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primaries, but Republican John McCain in the general election.

What's your reaction?
