New Delhi: The police on Tuesday detained 10 couples in Bandra for “indecent behaviour” in public, as part of its drive against couples cozying up on seafronts in suburban Mumbai.

The Bandra police station has been conducting a special drive over the last one week rounding up couples for getting to close for comfort in public.

"The city police will take unbaised action against any couple caught in a compromising position in and around public places," Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sanjay Mohite (Enforcement) told UNI.

The drive was carried out at the starting point of the under-construction Bandra-Worli sea-link at Bandra reclamation on Tuesday evening, police said.

They have so far detained over 60 couples under the Bombay Police Act after allegedly receiving complaints from locals.

The couples were let off after paying a fine of not more than Rs 1,200.

In reaction to the moral policing by the police, the Mumbai Lovers Association, an infamous Non-Government Organisation (NGO) has issued a statement demanding a separate park for lovers, reports UNI.
