THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Three persons, including a father and his young child, were killed in two separate mishaps in the district on Thursday. In a gruesome tragedy, a young man and his five-year-old son were killed and the elder son was critically injured when they were knocked down by a school van while they were moving in a motorbike at Pazhayakada, near Neyyattinkara, under the Poovar police station limits in the evening. Sunil Kumar, 38, and his youngest child Jijomon, 5, were those who died, while Jomon, 8, suffered serious injuries. Sunil Kumar was returning to their house at Olathani after collecting the children from the school as usual, when they were hit by a van carrying students of the Neyyattinkara Convent and Vidhyadhiraja Schools, near the Kalumukham bridge. The school van, allegedly advancing along the wrong side, was carrying students from Neyyattinkara to Pazhayakada.  The local people who rushed to the spot carried the three injured to NeyyattinkaraTaluk hospital, where Sunil Kumar breathed his last soon. The children were then shifted to Thiruvananthapuram SAT Hospital. Jijomon succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The condition of the lone survivor Jomon is said to be extremely critical. Six students who were travelling in the van were also injured in the impact of the crash. They were admitted to the Neyyattinkara Taluk Hospital. Woman Techie Killed A young woman was killed and sixteen others injured when a KSRTC fast passenger bus collided head-on with a Scorpio car at  Pongumoodu in the city on Thursday morning. The victim was identified as Aswathi G, 26,  a Technopark employee and a native of Kazhakkoottam. The accident occurred at 6.50 am, when the Attingal-bound car crashed into the KSRTC bus, which was heading towards the city. The car was reportedly carrying Technopark employees. Five passengers who were in the car received serious injuries and were rushed to the Medical College Hospital. Later, they were shifted to a private hospital. Aswathi died soon after reaching the hospital. K Radha Krishnan, J A Hari Krishnan, P G Harikrishnan and U A Shiju, the other occupants of the car, sustained serious injuries in the mishap. The body of Aswathy was shifted to the MCH. Bus passengers who suffered injuries were admitted to the MCH.
