Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg eyes podium finish at Indian Grand Prix
Year 2013 has been magnificent for Rosberg, who - heading into the Indian GP - is sixth in the drivers' standings with 126 points.

Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg on Wednesday said he is confident of finishing in top three of the Indian Grand Prix this weekend. The ongoing season has been magnificent for Rosberg as he is sixth in the drivers' standings with 126 points - behind team-mate Lewis Hamilton who stands in fourth with 161 points.

Rosberg, who will be participating in his third Indian GP after finishing sixth and 11th in the 2011 and 2012 edition respectively, said he is very excited after clinching victories in Monaco and Great Britain. "I am very excited to come to India. I will go for a podium finish and I am sure I will make it. I am eyeing the top three spots at BIC [Buddh International Circuit]. I feel I am in great touch and want to finish the remaining [three] races on a high", he said.

Rosberg was all praise for his team-mate Hamilton, who joined Mercedes from McLaren earlier this season. "Lewis is a really talented driver. I really love the way he drives. We are very good friends outside the track and have fun a lot of fun together. Sometimes we go out for lunch as well. But on the track, it's every man for himself ", Rosberg said on a lighter note.

This is the German's third visit to India and expressing his likeness towards the BIC he says, "The circuit is really good, I would say one of the best in the world. I drove in both the previous seasons here and I really enjoyed it. The Indian crowd is amazing and their support too".

Rosberg promotes the same sports and lifestyle brand as Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, but says he's not a keen cricket fan. "I am not a cricket freak. Cricket is not popular in Germany and even in Monaco where I stay now. I have tried following it but I do not have interest in it, so I don't like it. I love football," he said.

When asked if he knows the great Sachin Tendulkar has announced his retirement, he said, "I heard Sachin is retiring. It is a great pity, especially for the Indian fans. I met him during the first edition of the Indian Grand Prix. He came across as a true Formula One fan," he added.

The Mercedes driver said he knows Yuvraj only because they both promote the same brand. "Yuvi and I are having some chats on Twitter these days. He seems like a fun guy. I hope to see him during the race weekend. He is another cricketer who I know because of the brand we are promoting."
