A Bahujan Samaj Party leader and his two accomplices, accused in the Meerut gang-rape case, were allegedly beaten by lawyers within the premises of Meerut Court after a hearing on Wednesday.

Police managed to rescue and rush them back to the jail. People and lawyers present in court premises raised alarm against accused and demanded death penalty for them, sources said.

"When BSP leader Amit Bhadana, Shobhit Gurjar and Azad Singh Gurjar were being taken out of court after a hearing, lawyers and some people suddenly attacked them.

"The three accused did not suffer serious injuries in the incident," a senior police officer said.

The 16-year-old girl was allegedly abducted by Bhadana, a BSP leader of Meerut south wing and his three aides while she was returning home after attending tuition class at 7 PM on Saturday.

After raping the girl in the SUV, the accused took her to a house in Lakhmai Vihar area where she was again gang-raped.

The girl was later dumped near PVS Mall in Meerut by the accused, police said.

Next day, in presence of her family, the accused threatened the girl that they would kill her along with her brother if she disclosed the matter.

Bhadana, Shobit and Ajad, all aged between 25 and 32 years, were arrested yesterday, said Vikas Chand Tripathi, Circle Officer, Brahampuri in Meerut.

Police are yet to arrest fourth accused. The three accused were produced in court which sent them to 14 days judicial custody.
