Kathmandu: Concerned over the killing of two persons abducted by the Maoists, Nepal's Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitoula urged Maoists to abide by the 25-point Code of Conduct which they reached at recently.
The code of conduct has been made with prior consent from the government and it warns the Maoists that if they continue to breach it, a "crisis of trust" might arise.
"Continuation of violent activities may invite a crisis of trust. The murder of the Shahani brothers has created a serious situation," said Sitoula urging the Maoists to abide by the Code.
Speaking at the House of Representatives, Sitoula who is also the coordinator of the government’s negotiation team, raised concern over the murder of Sahani brothers.
Shambhu Sahani and Shyam Shahani were abducted and killed by the Maoist cadres in the Rautahat district about a week ago.
Sitoula asked the Maoists to return all the captured and looted property to the concerned owners and present themselves "in a responsible way."
Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) MP Bharatmohan asked both sides to sign a peace accord in the presence of international agencies.
He also demanded the formation of a talks monitoring committee
comprising Members of Parliament.
Another MP Homnath Dahal asked the Maoists to make public the names of all the persons in their 'labour camps' and to create an environment so that the insurgency-displaced people could return to their homes.
Meanwhile, the government yesterday freed 14 Maoists held in Sankhuwasabha district jail as per its commitment to gradually release all political detainees.
