Vivek Agnihotri Hints At Emotional Impact Of The Delhi Files: 'Aansu Se Zyada Gussa Hai'
Vivek Agnihotri recently shared a black and white photo of himself possibly hinting at the dark theme of his upcoming movie, The Delhi Files.

Following the success of The Tashkent Files, The Kashmir Files and The Vaccine War, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri is focused on his next hard-hitting project, The Delhi Files. Although details about the cast members and storyline are still under wraps, the filmmaker in his recent social media post teased that the upcoming movie promises to provoke strong emotion. Rather than just shedding tears, the movie will make audiences angry, he said.

Agnihotri had earlier shared that the movie is set to go on floors later this year, with the plan to release in 2025. To ensure authenticity, Agnihotri has done deep research of the historical events related to the film, by reading many books and articles on the subject.

Taking to his X handle, the director shared a black and white photo of himself possibly hinting at the dark theme of his upcoming movie. The image shows him deeply focused on his work as he prepares for production. Sharing the post, he wrote in Hindi, “Kaam bohot zor shor se jaari hai. Iss baar aansu se zyada gussa hai. (The work continues in full swing. This time there is more anger than tears).”

Previously, Vivek Agnihotri began auditions for actors to play Mahatma Gandhi and Muhammad Ali Jinnah in The Delhi Files. For the film, he and his team travelled in states like Kerala, Kolkata and Delhi to gather detailed information. In his last social media update, Agnihotri further boosted the excitement by sharing a preview of his research, which uncovered an intense chapter from Bengal’s history.

The director wrote, “For the last 6 months, I have been on the road visiting different cities and villages, interviewing people, studying local culture, its history, and trying to understand the root cause of Bengal’s violent history for our next very important film. Bengal is the only state that was divided twice. Bengal is the only state where a series of genocides took place back to back – pre and post-independence. In Independent India, the conflict was between two mainstream national ideologies – Hinduism & Islam.”

“In Bengal, there were four mainstream ideologies – Hinduism, Islam, Communism, and its radical offshoot Naxalism. Also, there was a very strong sense of loss of the great heritage of nationalism, social reform, philosophy, art, literature, and spirituality of renaissance times. All were in conflict with each other. No other state has seen such massive, continuous religious and political violence like Bengal,” Agnihotri added.

Recently, Vivek Agnihotri was thrilled to receive the Streaming Academy Award for Best Documentary Series for The Kashmir Files: Unreported. This series explored more details about the Kashmir conflict that was not covered in the original film.
