New Delhi: Senior army officer and former Military Secretary Lieutenant General Avadesh Prakash has been chargesheeted in the Sukna land scam case. Lt Gen Prakash was on Tuesday charged with the Army accusing him of trying to help secure defence land for a private realtor near Siliguri in West Bengal.
After the reconvened Court of Inquiry (COI) was completed earlier this month, the Army initiated the summary of evidence against him at the Eastern Command headquarters in Kolkata from Tuesday and he was slapped with five charges.
Earlier, the Armed Forces Tribunal had dismissed Lt Gen Prakash's petition for a stay on proceedings in the Sukna land scandal case.
If found guilty, Lt Gen Prakash faces court martial in the case.
With Lt Gen Prakash and Lt Gen PK Rath facing court martial, the Army will have to set up a borad of six officers of the rank of Lt Gen to hear and decide the matter.
