THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Various leaders have condoled the demise of veteran bureaucrat and former Governor Dr P C Alexander on Wednesday, underscoring the immense contributions of one of the great personalities of Kerala who proved his mettle in the international and national arena.Conveying his condolences to the bereaved family, Governor R S Gavai said that Dr P C Alexander had distinguished himself in several high posts including that of the Principal Secretary to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and India’s High Commissioner to the UK. Expressing his condolences, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that Alexander had contributed immensely to the development process in the country while serving as the principal secretary to former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. As an able administrator and diplomat, he propelled Kerala’s stature to great heights, he said. In his condolence message, Speaker G Karthikeyan said that Alexander had made notable contributions in his varied administrative and diplomatic assignments. His style of functioning served as an inspiration to all. His oratorical skills and his work as an author were also commendable, he said.KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala said that Alexander was a man who had his own opinion on every topic while serving as a top bureaucrat. As principal secretary to Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, he had played a very crucial role.Alexander was not a mere bureaucrat but a visionary with a national and international outlook, Chennithala said.Labour Minister Shibu Baby John said that P C Alexander has left his stamp as an able administrator and diplomat, apart from being a noted author.Condoling Alexander’s death, Excise and Ports Minister K Babu said that Alexander had walked on the path of the history of modern India, while remaining committed to the cause of the people and discharging his duties as a diplomat and administrator in an excellent manner.With the passing away of Alexander, the nation has lost one of its best administrators, he felt.
