Lapses in Salman hit-and-run case compels Mumbai Police to furnish probe guidelines
The Mumbai Police has issued a circular to all police stations on procedure to be followed in any criminal investigation.

In the wake of Bollywood actor Salman Khan's acquittal in the 2002 hit and run case, the Mumbai Police has issued a circular to all police stations on procedure to be followed in any criminal investigation.

The Bombay High Court had pointed out 16 lapses in the investigation in the 2002 case that led to Salman Khan's acquittal. Some of the lapses include the failure to collect bills from the bars with proper Panchnama and due certification.

The court also deemed the biological evidence untrustworthy with the failure to establish custody of blood samples.

Police had also failed to issue summons to Bollywood singer-actor Kamal Khan despite having his latest address available.
