BANGALORE: The Bangalore Kodava Samaj organised a protest at the Cubbon Park against the desecration of the statue of Field Marshall Cariappa in Madikeri. The protest in Bangalore follows protests held in Madikeri and Mysore. Secretary of Kodava Samaj, Jaya Chinappa presented the issue of the desecration before the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bangalore. Several protesters gathered in the city with banners and placards to protest against the insult to one of the country’s top army veteran and an idol of the Kodava community. Some were in tears as they were in disbelieve as to why would someone would desecrate the statue of such a inspiring person. “How can anyone be so insensitive, the miscreants must be found and punished,” said Laksha Ramappa, a protester.
