CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s recent thanksgiving tour of her Srirangam constituency seems to have borne fruit for local residents. A press release from the State said that Jayalalithaa had ordered immediate action on a number of petitions presented to her. During her three-day visit, besides commissioning new projects and repair works worth Rs 190.18 crore, Jayalalithaa issued orders for speedy completion of all pending work.The CM directed local officials to act immediately on a petition from the residents of Subaiyapuram village seeking repair of street lamps. In Raghavendrapuram of Srirangam, she instructed officials to replace a damaged electric pole that had been worrying the residents. Other works commissioned by her were the laying of concrete roads, the repair of roads connecting villages to highways, laying of new pipelines and to improve drinking water supply.
