KOZHIKODE: The 20th Party Congress of the CPM to be held in Kozhikode in April 2012 has set a unique example for political harmony. ‘Pullat Buildings’,the eight-storey building on Wayanad Road in the heart of the city, which houses the reception committee office of the Party Congress, belongs to two Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) loyalists. In a rare political gesture, NRI businessmen Kunhalasan Haji and Ahamed Haji, hailing from Acharambalam near Kondotty and based in Saudi Arabia, wholeheartedly agreed to the CPM district committee’s request to provide three floors of the building, virtually for free. Both business men, however, were unavailable for comment.Says CPM district secretary and organising committee general secretary T P Ramakrishnan, “we were looking for a suitable vacant land within the city limits to set up a temporary shed to accommodate the reception committee office.  The ‘Pullat Building’ was spotted during that search. It was found ideal due to the location of the building, space and enough parking area available within the premises. When contacted, owners wholeheartedly agreed to provide space but we are yet to enter into an agreement regarding this.”The building is under construction and the organisers have done certain temporary constructions to house 16 sub-committees in the first three floors. “The only condition put forward by the owners was not to make any hindrance to the ongoing construction work in the building. When asked about the rent, they informed that we could talk later.
