Is Bryan Singer slated to direct 'X-Men: Apocalypse'?
The director has worked on the first two instalments and recently was back for 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'.

Los Angeles: Bryan Singer will reportedly helm the eighth instalment of the 'X-Men' series.

The director, who worked on the first two instalments and recently was back for 'X-Men: Days of Future Past', has been attached to the position since a while but now he has closed the deal with 20th Century Fox, reported Deadline.

Singer's position in 'Apocalypse' reportedly was in question after a lawsuit alleging sexual abuse was launched shortly before 'Days of Future Past' premiered. The lawsuit, however, was dropped last month.

'X-Men: Apocalypse' is set to take place in the 1980s. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman and Nicholas Hoult will reprise their roles as Charles Xavier, Magneto, Mystique, Wolverine and Beast respectively.

Younger version of Jean, Cyclops and Storm will also make appearances in the upcoming mutant film. Production is set to start in April 2015 and the movie is due out in the US on May 27, 2016.
